This large example is believed to have originated in Kutch India during the latter part of the 19th c. Its heavy steel design, chiseled and pierced, was probably inspired by Mughal architecture. The arched columns and Jali style background were both common features of North Indian architecture during the Mughal period. The applied decoration is gilt bronze.
