Moroccan Genoui
ITEM # 0033 The Moroccan Genoui is a traditional weapon of the Berber people that inhabit the Atlas mountains. While Moroccan in origin, its use was widespread throughtout much of North Africa. Hilts are typically of wood or horn and their blades are often the repurposed tips of much older European Rapier blades. This elegant example is from the early 20th c. It has an unusually good quality silver scabbard lightly inscribed with geometric arabesque. The large hilt is R horn and the blade tip is from an older European Rapier. 20" overall, 13.75" blade. Very good condition. small dents to the scabbard sides where it has been worn under a sash.
